- Judy Feld Carr

The Jewish community leaders in Aleppo and Damascus work hard to maintain their schools, synagogues, cemeteries and charities, often with help from the outside. One advocate is a music professor in Canada named Judy Feld Carr. Feld Carr first heard about the Syrian Jews in the early 1970s. For more than twenty years, she lobbies intensively on their behalf, and helps many of them escape.

“I used to be in contact with her– very, very close, daily contact. I need the tefillin. Okay, she raised the money. She bring tefillin; she send to Syria. I need ten sedurim. She raised the money from here. We send to Syria.” – Albert Ayal, Episode 7
“I had connection– Mrs. Judy Carr. Whenever I have family or friends who would like to immigrate, I used to give her the name and she used to send the money.” – Rabbi Isaac Farhi, Episode 7
