- Aleppo Codex Written

The Keter Aram Soba is likely written sometime around the year 929 in the vicinity of Tiberias (in modern day Israel.) Shelomo ben Buya’a wrote the words of the Keter and Aharon ben Asher added the vowels, ta’amim and notes.

Literally translated, Keter Aram Soba means “Crown of Aleppo.” Also known as the “Aleppo Codex,” the Keter Aram Soba was a codex (a manuscript in book form) that contained the entire twenty-four books of the Tanach, including the spelling, vocalization and cantillation marks for each word, was well as notes regarding the text. It is believed that the Rambam studied the Keter and relied on it for its accuracy.
